Nanaimo Trunk Show – A Day in the life of a Yarn Store Owner
On Saturday, March 31, Sugar Bush Yarns came to Georgetown Yarn to unveil their new Spring yarn – Nanaimo. This luxurious lace weight yarn made of alpaca and mulberry silk and is incredibly soft and sleek. I am working on a tunic top now with it. It comes in 15 colours that are all very beautiful.
Trunk shows are always a lot of work but worth it because they are also a lot of fun. Yarnies are always happy people when you get them in a yarn store but add a trunk show to the day and just watch them glow.
The day always starts at least an hour before the actual day as we have to prepare the store and plan where the display will go. How much is coming in and how will we lay it out to display it to its fullest advantage. We want to see every colour and have room for everyone to touch and cuddle the new yarn.
During the event, there is always someone available to talk about the yarn and the patterns that go with it and if we are lucky we get some insider information on what is going to be released in the next season.
But even more fun is the give-aways.
While here, Michelle, gave away five prize packs to some very lucky customers. Each pack contained enough yarn to make one of the five patterns that they were also giving away.
Our winners were all very thrilled with their prizes and I can’t wait to see the finished products.
I want to thank Michelle from Sugar Bush Yarn for coming out on the Saturday of a long weekend to spend time with all of us at Georgetown Yarn. A big thanks goes out to Opal, as well, for all her help in setting up the day of the event.
Keep watch, we have more events planned this Spring and we want you to be part of it.
