Quick Knit and Crochet Gift Ideas

We are now officially into Autumn and the night comes earlier and we all cuddle up in our homes to begin our hibernation for the winter.  As you snuggle down under your blanket you realize it is only 40 days until Christmas and you are not ready so here are 10 quick knit and crochet gift ideas to help keep you entertained and on track for the gift giving season.  These gift ideas cover kids, teens and adults.

1.  Gingerbread Boy – Sara Elizabeth Kellner

Gingerbread Boy
This little quick knit toy is super easy and quick to knit. It’s worked in the round, and all in one piece so there’s no seaming at all. Best of all, the fun comes at the end when you get to decorate him!

He’s 11 inches tall when using worsted weight yarn and size 4 dpns, but can easily be made larger or smaller by changing yarn weight and needle size.

2.  Baby Doll Top – Erika and Monika Simmons
Baby Doll Top
This one shoulder top is perfect for a romantic dinner in classic black and white with wine trim.  Make it in other colors for a different but just as stunning look.

3.  Fallberry Mitts – Anne Hanson

Fallberry Mitts

These cozy fingerless mitts in two sizes feature a fitted thumb gusset and deeply-textured openwork pattern. This quick knit is inspired by the shapes and colors of berries that accessorize bare branches during winter, these mitts add a similar touch of bright freshness to winter outerwear.

4.  Sock Monkey Hat Pattern – Paula Gaumer Tooke

Sock Monkey Hat

This hat can be made for any size from a preemie to an adult male.   You will need to make your crown the circumference and height of the person you are making the hat for.

5.  Man Hands – Shireen Nadir

Man Hands
Man Hands. Easy and quick, these simple knit gloves have just enough pattern to keep you from going batty but are simple enough for dudes to rock without complaining. The waffle stitch pattern is super warm and can show off a variety of yarns. Instructions are given in the pattern for either knitting a basic pair or customizing them exactly to your recipients hands.

6.  30 Minute Basic Beanie – Diane Serviss

30 Minute Basic Beanie

If you have 30 minutes, an N hook and a skein of Super Bulky #6 yarn, have I got the pattern for you! This hat is the perfect last minute gift.

7.   Tarragon the Gentle Dragon – Knit-a-Zoo

Quick Knit Dragon
Mythology or reality? The reality is that Tarragon is a dragon with a tender heart and an obscure predilection for French cuisine. He is a lovely and quick knit.  He will only blow fire for bbq-ing some sausages – to eat with lots of onions and garlic sauce!   One day to knit, one second to love!

8.  Ninetales Pokemon – Secretly Gnoming Productions

Nin
This is a free pattern to create the pictured Ninetales Pokemon. The Ninetales can be made larger or smaller by using different sized yarns or hooks, however the original was designed using Aran weight yarn and a 4.00 mm crochet hook. Optionally, you can also add tufts of yarn to the top of the head and chest areas by cutting bits of tan yarn, tying them to individual crochet stitches in the desired areas, and then brushing them out with a pet brush.

9.  Fezzes are Cool – Nyss Parkes

Fezzes are cool

Flip top mitts featuring Matt Smith’s bowtie and favourite fez. This quick knit pattern idea to me in a flash and I laughed out loud – I hope you do too! Mitts flip towards front of hand & fasten with buttons so as not to obscure bowtie.
