The Cottage Dish Drying Mat

My niece told me she was crocheting a dish drying mat and I thought, “what a great idea”, so here is a pattern for just such an item.

The following is the information taken from the designer’s Ravelry project page.

This basketweave dish drying mat is simple and functional. It provides a soft, cushy place for dished to dry. The woven texture will even keep dishes elevated so that air can circulate around them.

The pattern is a great project for a beginner that feels comfortable with double crochet.

Using the gauge of 12 sts to 4”, this project can be completed with approximately 360 yards of worsted weight cotton yarn. The finished item is 15.5” by 18”. If your gauge varies, your project will be larger or smaller accordingly.
