Georgetown Yarn has been a part of the Georgetown business community for over 40 years, with the last 20+ years at its current location on Guelph Street. We are the ‘go to’ spot for quality and hard-to-find yarns, premier knitting needles, tools and notions. Under new ownership since December 2014, Georgetown Yarn continues its tradition of exceptional customer service and quality products at a reasonable price.
New owner, Betty-Anne Whipp, is a life-long knitter. Although her professional background spans years working as an administrative and social media specialist, there has always been the knitting. It is a rare day that Betty-Anne doesn’t have a partially knitted pair of socks stuffed in her purse.
As a loyal customer of Georgetown Yarn, Betty-Anne often imagined herself as the proprietor of the shop and declared to herself, “If ever they choose to sell, I’d really like to buy this place.” Betty-Anne enjoyed the fact that she had found a place where she could go and knit with like-minded people. Her opportunity came, and she grabbed it, in December 2014. With the support of her family and many wonderful knitting and crochet enthusiasts, Betty-Anne has lots of ideas on what she can offer the community of Halton Hills. She says it’s the best thing she’s ever done! If you haven’t had a chance to meet Betty-Anne, drop by and say ‘hi’. She’d love to hear about your latest project.
