Georgetown Yarn has been a part of the Georgetown business community for over 30 years, with the last 18 years at its current location on Guelph Street. We are the ‘go to’ spot for quality and hard-to-find yarns, premier knitting needles, tools and notions. Under new ownership since December 2014, Georgetown Yarn continues its tradition of exceptional customer service and quality products at a reasonable price.
New owner, Betty-Anne Whipp, is a life-long knitter. Although her professional background spans years working as an administrative and social media specialist, there has always been the knitting. It is a rare day that Betty-Anne doesn’t have a partially knitted pair of socks stuffed in her purse.
As a loyal customer of Georgetown Yarn, Betty-Anne often imagined herself as the proprietor of the shop and declared to herself, “If ever they choose to sell, I’d really like to buy this place.” Betty-Anne enjoyed the fact that she had found a place where she could go and knit with like-minded people. Her opportunity came, and she grabbed it, in December 2014. With the support of her family and many wonderful knitting and crochet enthusiasts, Betty-Anne has lots of ideas on what she can offer the community of Halton Hills. She says it’s the best thing she’s ever done! If you haven’t had a chance to meet Betty-Anne, drop by and say ‘hi’. She’d love to hear about your latest project.
