People knit or crochet for many reasons and we have all heard about the many studies that have been done that outline the many mental health benefits of fibre arts. For me, I grew up with knitting. My Mom is from Scotland and I am convinced that the Scots come out of the womb with needles and yarn in hand. They all do it, men, women and children.
I remember from early years my Mom was always knitting something for someone. Great big sweater coats for my father, Nordic sweaters for me and my four siblings and beautiful glamour sweaters for me as I got older. And then of course the grandchildren started coming. Well you can just imagine what happened then.
Over the years I have had many influences in my knitting and spent many an hour at karate and music lessons with my children, they would be playing music, doing their art or practicing karate whilst I whiled away my time with my knitting. Now I am the proud owner of Georgetown Yarn and I am able to share my enthusiasm and passion with so many more people. I am even learning to crochet which is exciting.
