Knitting and crocheting are more fun with friends!
The back room at Georgetown Yarn is one of our best kept secrets. Here you’ll find a cozy sitting room where knitters and crocheters come and sit in comfort around the fireplace and knit or crochet and enjoy a coffee and pleasant conversation. You are welcome to drop by our Thursday night open knit/crochet from 7 to 9 pm where people of all ages and experiences come to share a common love of knitting and crocheting. We also offer a Wednesday afternoon option from 1 to 3 for those who prefer to work on their projects during the day. No need to book an appointment, just stop by!
Serving the Community
Community is very important to the staff and customers at Georgetown Yarn. For many years we have knit and crocheted blankets for donation to local organizations including Links2Care, Salvation Army, and Halton Women’s Place. We accept donations of worsted weight yarn, give patterns to volunteer knitters and crocheters and they go and create a square of specific dimensions. These volunteers then bring back the completed squares that are assembled into a blanket by other volunteers. We are proud to make this a year round tradition producing in excess of 100 donated blankets each year.
We also accept donated patterns at Georgetown Yarn that are then offered to customers who may choose to make a free will donation to take them. The proceeds from these donations are split between Georgetown Food Bank and the Halton Hills Public Library. If you have some old patterns that you’d like to donate, please bring them by the shop.
